MediaMarkt

While studying, I had the opportunity to work on a UX/UI redesign project for MediaMarkt's website. The goal was to create a more intuitive and seamless shopping experience, addressing the lack of fluidity and simplicity in the original user journey. Through user research, heuristic evaluation, and applying key UX principles and laws, I developed a fresh and user-centered design that enhances usability and improves the overall customer experience. This project allowed me to combine strategy and creativity to solve real user pain points.

As part of the redesign project for MediaMarkt, I applied the Design Thinking methodology to create a user-centered website experience. The process began with understanding user needs and business goals, followed by ideation and prototyping to deliver high-fidelity screens focused on both usability and performance.

The design decisions were guided by UX heuristics, especially considering that users tend to scan content rather than read it thoroughly—they’re usually looking for something specific and want to find it quickly. This insight led to a clean, scannable layout with clear visual hierarchy, intuitive navigation, and focused calls to action. I also followed the principle that users can retain and process a limited amount of information—around 7 elements at once—so the interface avoids overwhelming the user with excessive choices.

What you see in the high-fidelity screens reflects these UX principles in action: a streamlined, functional, and brand-consistent design that improves the overall shopping experience for MediaMarkt customers.

Mediamarkt

As part of my UX/UI redesign project for MediaMarkt, I focused on streamlining the purchase process to make it more intuitive and user-friendly. The original checkout flow lacked clarity and visual hierarchy, which could lead to user frustration or cart abandonment.

In this redesigned version, I applied core UX principles such as progressive disclosure and heuristic usability guidelines (e.g., visibility of system status, consistency, and error prevention). I divided the checkout into three clearly numbered steps—Shipping Address, Delivery Method, and Payment—making the process easy to follow and reducing cognitive load.

Each section is visually separated with consistent spacing and a clean layout to enhance readability. I used a single-column structure, which is known to improve user focus and completion rates. The use of icons and concise labels guides the user naturally through the flow.

On the right side, I integrated a real-time summary of the purchase, including tax breakdown, total cost, and product visuals, which reassures the user and increases transparency. The “Buy” button is prominent and visually accessible, ensuring a smooth final action.

This redesign enhances usability, clarity, and user confidence, resulting in a more effective and satisfying shopping experience.

Mediamarkt

As part of the MediaMarkt redesign project, I also improved the user registration flow for new customers. The goal was to reduce friction and make the process feel approachable and quick.

This screen features a minimalist and distraction-free layout, emphasizing only the essential form fields: name, surname, identification number (NIE), and password. By applying UX best practices such as a single-column layout and aligned labels, I ensured that users can scan and complete the form with minimal effort.

The use of white space enhances readability and reduces visual noise, while the prominent black “Register” button provides clear direction for the next step. I also added a subtle password visibility toggle icon to improve usability, following common UI conventions.

The clean visual hierarchy, coupled with step indication ("Step 3 – Personal Information"), helps users feel in control and aware of their progress. This results in a smoother onboarding experience and increases registration completion rates.
